Calling all Californian forfeiture victims

On June 16, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Eapen Thampy

California Assembly Bill 639, a bill to reform California’s asset forfeiture laws, recently passed the California General Assembly and is due for hearings at some point during the day on Tuesday, June 21 (although the hearings may yet be postponed to a later date). Regardless, we are working with Christina Walsh, director of activism at the Institute for Justice, to bring forfeiture victims to these hearings so that legislators may hear their stories. If you are interested in contacting us regarding these hearings, you can email me at Eapen@ForfeitureReform.com or Christina at CWalsh@IJ.org.

Here is my earlier letter to the California General Assembly on AB 639. Here is a letter from Major Neill Franklin, a retired narcotics officer and the executive director of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) in support of AB 639 as well.
